 | Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will I have to completely undress?
A. The massage techniques that I use work best when the client removes most articles of clothing. However, you may remove as little clothing as your are comfortable with and I will adapt the massage to your comfort level. Some massage techniques may not be able to be used as the clothing can make some techniques too difficult. As you become more comfortable with massage, your comfort levels may change.
Q. Where is my therapist while I am undressing?
A. I will leave the massage room and allow you to get undressed and under the drape privately.
Q. Will I be covered during my massage?
A. Using a sheet as a drape, you will remain covered throughout the massage. I will only undrape the area I am working on. Once that area has been worked, I will re-drape that area.
Q. What should I do during my massage?
A. RELAX. As the massage progresses you will probably feel very relaxed and safe. You may talk during the massage and feel free to ask any quesitons or make comments about the massage.
Q. How will I feel after a massage?
A. Immediately following a massage you will probably feel very relaxed and a little sleepy. After about 30 minutes, a lot of people experience an increase in energy and a decreased level of stress. Your aches and pains should be feeling minimal if not completely relieved. Please make sure to drink extra water after your massage to help combat any soreness that you might feel post-massage.
Q. How often should I get a massage?
A. In my experience, once a month should be minimum for anyone. Regular massage can help to control stress and pain. By receiving massage regularly, you will help prevent the stress and pain from taking over. After a massage, listen to your body. It will begin to give you subtle hints as to how frequent you need a massage. If you can go a month with little or no pain and low stress levels, GREAT get a massage once a month. If you can only go one week or a few days without pain, you will need to receive massage more frequently. By receiving regular massage for pain, you should be able to get to a maintenance massage point once the pain is under control.
Q. What if I am self-conscious about my body?
A. Please don't let this stop you from getting massage therapy. After years of being a therapist, I have seen bodies of all shapes, sizes, and ages. I am providing you with a professional service. I will never make negative judgements about your body. I would like you to feel comfortable about receiving massage therapy. |
